Recover a missing browser game save
Check origin, browser profile, private mode and cloud sync before clearing anything, and understand when a local save cannot be recovered.
Stop changes that can overwrite the save
Do not immediately clear site data, reinstall the browser or start a new game over a cloud slot. Keep the affected browser profile available and record the game URL. A save may be local storage, IndexedDB, a downloaded file or a server account record; recovery depends on which one the game uses. An empty screen is not proof that all stored data is gone.
Check the exact place you played
Return to the same browser profile and exact site origin, including https and subdomain. Storage belonging to one origin is not automatically shared with another. Check whether the earlier session was private browsing or a different device. If the game uses an account, confirm the correct account and inspect its own cloud-save controls before starting a replacement session.
Look for supported recovery paths
Use the game’s documented import, backup or cloud-restore function first. Check your Downloads folder for a previous save export and any backups you deliberately created. Browser storage can be evicted under storage pressure, and clearing site data can remove it. An account sync feature in the browser is not a guarantee that arbitrary game storage was backed up. Do not paste unknown recovery scripts into developer tools.
Know when to stop and ask the publisher
If local data was removed and there is no export, device backup or server copy, recovery may not be possible. Contact the game publisher with the game URL, account identifier through its private support channel, approximate last successful play and the changes made since then. Never send passwords or access tokens. Once recovered, use the game’s supported export option and keep a dated backup before browser or device changes.
